I’m Joel, I’m a DevOps engineer at Giant Digital. Right now I’m mainly working with GitHub Actions, Python, Bash, Ansible, GraphQL, and a few other languages.

More than specific languages, I care about developing in many meanings of the word:

1. Of course developing tools, systems and processes that make life easier, both if you’re using and making software. Software with courageous goals that achieves those goals elegantly, intuitively, and transparently are both quality of life improvers and teaching tools within themselves.
2. Developing my own expertise, whether that’s figuring out a new package, picking up a new language, or learning about new architectures, watching my knowledge grow affords me opportunties to solve more and larger problems creatively.
3. Finally, enabling others to develop, watching their skill set grow, and helping them shape their unique set of interests and skills that make them successful, and find their place within their current team or the next.

I’m also a competitive typist, a homelabber, mechanical keyboard enthusiast, I do 3D modelling with Blender (mainly for architectural rendering and interior design), gaming, photography, and many other techincal rabbit holes I’ve fallen into.
